Lesson 8: Status

Checking Status

The Status window has several functions. You can:

View the Scheduled objects (Operations, Steps or Jobs) for the current date/time (Status tab).

View all Scheduled objects (Scheduled tab).

Cause Pending objects to be released from the Pending state.

Delete objects that are Pending or shown in Error.

Execute an object.

Place an object on hold.

Resume an object from hold.

The Status window will automatically update the Current tab display every n seconds by placing a value in the Refresh every seconds field. By default, this window displays with a Refresh every of 2 seconds.  The refresh will only occur if the Administrator has detected that the Status information has actually changed.

Step 1: To release an object to run immediately

1.To display the Status window select the Status node in the tree view.  Make sure the Status tab is selected in the set of tabs at the bottom of the list.

2.Select the row that you want to run.

3.Right-click on the line with the object you want to run and select the Execute menu item.

If the object is a Job, you will be prompted to enter the Step and Operation Name to start with. If the object is a Step you will be prompted for the Operation name to start with.

Note: It may take several seconds for the display to show any changes to the object you selected to Execute. The Executive Server may be busy processing other request.

Step 2: To Delete an object from the Status display

Right-click on the row you want to delete and select the Delete menu item.  The Executive Server will remove the object from its list of things to run.

When you delete an object from the Status window it will not be run until its next run date and time. If the next run date and time is later in the day, the object will be returned to the Status list.  If you do not want the object to run later in the day, you must first disable the object on its Properties window (Operation, Step or Job Properties) and then remove it from the Status.  You will need to reenable the object when you want the Executive Server to include it in its processing.  This is done by making sure its Enabled property is checked.  Check the enabled property on the corresponding Properties window for the object and click on the Apply button.
