Running The Remote Agent

The SmartBatch Remote Agent is a small and efficient software component that must reside on each computer that requires this remote functionality. The Remote Agent accepts requests from the Executive Server to process Operations. This may be a single Operation or an Operation that is being run as part of a Step or Job.  The Operation is monitored until it completes. Once completed the Remote Agent determines if the Operation ran successfully based on the Exit Code Expression, Keyword  Expression and Application Log File as defined on the Operation Properties window.  The Remote Agent then reports back to the Executive Server. The Executive Server provides status, control and history for all Remote Agents centrally.

Running The Remote Agent

The Remote Agent is configured as a Windows Service so that its capabilities are always available when the computer is running. The Remote Agent's processing can only occur if the Remote Agent Service is running. You can determine this by opening the Services applet and scrolling down to the SmartBatch Remote Agent  entry or by seeing the sbra.exe process in the Windows Task Manager's Processes list.

Remote Agent Installation

The Remote Agent must be installed on each computer that will participate in processing controlled by the Executive Server. The Remote Agent installation file is a separate file that can be downloaded from OnLine ToolWorks Corporation's web site.

Remote Agent Supported Operating Systems

The Remote Agent is available for the following Windows operating systems:
